Critical AI Scholar · Communication Designer & Strategist

I am an emergent scholar in Communication, and Studies of Science & Technology. With a PhD in Communication and Media Studies from the University of Calgary, my research sits at the intersection of Responsible AI, policy, and science and technology communication. I examine how AI narratives shape policy, public understanding, and the broader structures of power that govern our digital lives — combining critical theory with digital methods to ask uncomfortable questions about technology and society.

Passionate about teaching, I bring that same critical lens to the classroom. I have taught and assisted courses on new media, rhetoric, digital storytelling, algorithms and communication, and I am committed to helping students develop the tools to both use and interrogate emerging technologies. Beyond academia, I write for public audiences and have contributed to with international organizations including UNESCO, OXFAM, and the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence.

Alongside my scholarly work, I am an experienced communication strategist and designer. I translate complex research into clear, compelling visual and written communication — building interfaces, data visualizations, and editorial content that make ideas accessible without sacrificing rigour.

Communicating AI

In communicating the impact, challenges and potential of technologies clarity is essential. It can enable trust or resistance. But, clarity does not mean obscuring the downsides of emerging technologies. It means embracing transparency as ethical principle in both, technological development and communication design. In the last years I have been working and advocating for this approach. This works includes conferences presentations, a Box of Questions for Communicating AI for Health, a book chapter and an app in development.
